RSA Residency with Cromarty Arts Trust
These photographs were taken whilst on my RSA Residency with Cromarty in March and April 2020 during the Covid 19 Pandemic lockdown, and represent some of initial research for Morgenthau Plan for Creative Renewal and the areas and subjects for further investigation. The physical environment of Cromarty given its proximity to an industry (oil) that both feeds the local community, while being capable of destroying it, too. Even in lockdown it provided a rich and varied source of material to feed into my work, from the monumental sculptural oil rig platforms in the Firth to the mesmerising Gaelic Chapel ruin and the ever changing light was just breathtaking. The Gaelic Chapel ruin in some ways became a symbol for what happens once something has been abandoned to nature.
